FORCE RESERVE OFFICER TRAINING (PALAPES-SEA)

     PALAPES is an acronym for Reserve Officer Training or ROTU (Reserve Officer Training Unit). Establishment PALAPES program at the Institute of Higher Learning (IPTA) has been approved by the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces (JKTAT) in the 155th meeting on Dec 11, 1978. Navy has embarked PALAPES - first Sea at Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang in 1986 .

     The objective of this program is to get officers PSSTLDM post-Navy PALAPES either in the Permanent Force or the Reserve Force. The presence of young officers in the field of engineering and technology will assist and enhance the ability of the engineering and technology modernization navy suit. In addition, the establishment of PALAPES-Sea will provide the following benefits:

a. Raising the level of discipline, enhance soft skills and responsible behavior of students in order to birth a group of leaders in the fields of engineering and technology has emerged.

b. Establish a reserve team consisting of trained young officers for the navy to deploy force in a state of emergency.

c. Displaying and maritime cultural enrichment of the local community, thus enhancing the image of the navy.
